Guided Walks in Kahurangi National Park
Our
guided walks take in the Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes
National Parks. Whichever guided walk you choose, whether it be
a one day ramble up Mt. Arthur in the Kahurangi National Park or
a three day tramp in the Nelson Lakes National Park, we will ensure
your stay in New Zealand is one you will not forget.

Driving through the picturesque Wangapeka valley we
arrive at the old gold mining township called Courthouse Flats.
Immerse yourself in the atmosphere and history as we walk up to
Nuggety Creek. We lunch beside the river then gently walk to the
source to view goldmine relics and water works. This is a relaxed,
easy walk suitable for the whole family. We could even stop for
a drink or visit a vineyard on the way home.

We drive through the scenic route to the top of Takaka Hill (one of the The Lord of the Rings
settings). After refreshments we start our walk through interesting
granite hillside and then up into native bush to see the nei nei
trees, which is only to be seen in top of the south Island and fiordland.
This area is 500 million years old. Lunch at the Moa Park Hut then
walk a further 20 minutes to arrive at Porters Rock to take in the
spectacular views of the Abel Tasman.Leave Porters Rock to enjoy
refreshments and plunger coffee and delicous chocolate cake.

We drive into the Kahurangi National Park
to the secluded Graham Valley. After a drink we walk down to the
Flora hut then proceed up through native bush and rock formations
which are over 500 million years old. We have lunch at the Mt. Arthur
hut, enjoying the great views of Tasman Bay and out to Farewell
Spit. We can walk to the Mt Arthur summit to see alpine flora and
fauna There are plenty of oportunities to take photographs. We then
do a loop walk through Dr. Seuss magic land. This walk would suit
the average walker

Park Walk - Easy walk
Drive through the beautiful Motueka Valley with lots
of stops for photos then arrive at Marahau, the beginning of the
Abel Tasman National Park. After refreshment we can sit back to
enjoy a aqua taxi ride stopping at Split Apple Rock for photos then
enjoy a ride up to Anchorage. This ride takes approx 45 minutes.
After arriving at Anchorage we walk through the park to take in
the views and walk to the next bay to enjoy a home made lunch. We
can see Fishermans Island and Adele Island which was named after
Durville's wife when he explored to coastline. Have the feeling
at the end of the day that you have been a part of this beautiful
park. At the end of the walk enjoy a coffee and cake at the Cafe'
in the park.

Day 1
We drive through the Marlborough Sounds
to Tennyson Inlet to arrive at Duncan Bay for morning tea. We then
put on our packs which will be larger than your normal day pack
as you will need to bring your clothing for 3 days. This walk is
a moderate walk we wander through New Zealand nikau palms enjoying
sea views. We lunch beside the seaside then start walking up the
saddle to the wonderful views of Nydia Bay. Walking down through
small streams and lush bush to arrive at Nydia Bay for a swim and
photos. You might also want to visit Harry, a friendly eel. We continue
along a gentle coastal track to be welcomed to Driftwood Lodge by
our hosts. Relax and unwind with hot showers and a home cooked meal
with New Zealand wine. Wake at your leisure and enjoy a delicious
cooked breakfast.
Day 2
There are many options available today: fishing, reading, sitting
under the trees, walk up to the historic logging machinery, play
a round of golf on the farm, wander along the coast or have an optional
massage.
Day 3
Feeling refreshed and revived, we return taking our time
with lots of stops for photos and rests. Arrive at Duncan Bay and
stop at Rai Valley store for an icecream or your a drink in our
local pub. Arrive back with a wonderful feeling of having
had a good walk .

Day 1
This 3 days is an adventure as you will not forget as we
will be in remote wilderness. Leaving to drive through Motueka
then up Takaka Hill and into the Cobb wilderness. This area is remote
and very beautiful. The cottage has all bedding so you will only
need to bring your own towel, toiletries and personal clothing.
All your meals are supplied and prepared by Kathy, your guide. We
stop at the cottage to drop off our gear and supplies have a bit
to eat with a cuppa. We then put on our boots,pack our lunch and
drive to the beginning of the Cobb Dam. We start our first days
walk up to Lake Sylvester, walk up an old bullock track to Lake
Sylvester. This walk will take up 2 hours but there will be plenty
of stops for photos and rests. There a Doc hut up the top but we
can enjoy our lunch beside the lake. You may even see a kea if we
are lucky this is beautiful alpine country. Returning back our accommodation
to get the fire going and enjoy a and delicious evening meal with
wine to completes a lovely day. Awaken to the peacefulness of the
Cobb area.
Day 2
We will will be walking up to Mt Peel and the Peel Ridge this is
going to give you views of the Cobb Dam. We enjoy a scrumptious
lunch then walk on down to wander up the valley and visit the old
Chaffey's Hut that is still standing. Back again for another enjoyable
evening with your guide.
Day 3
Our last day in this wonderful wilderness. After packing up we drive
a short distance to the beginning of the Asbestos Cottage walk.There
will be many stories over lunch at the Chaffey's Cottage, where
Mr & Mrs Chaffey lived in this wilderness for 37 years. The
ghost might even be there to have a chat to us. We wander back down
the same track, leaving our wilderness.
